How do we translate الأرض

As there is one Earth would the word be Al-Ar'du (الأرض ) or Ar'dun (أرض) but definite with regards to the sentence the Earth is spacious? Homework lesson 4

I'm not too sure of the answer, but I would think of it as simmilar to the english language i.e. we don't say 'a earth but the earth' whereas with names they are definite by nature so we dont say 'the Muhammad' but Muhammad.

Does that make sense?

Yes I agree with you. Ustaad answered this question in class. أرض means land whereas الأرض refers to the Earth. Just like in arabic Madinah means city but Al-Madinah refers to the City of the Prophet (S). I'm sure that's what was mentioned in the revision session
