Translation of an ayah from Surati Aali 'Imran - 10

Please translate the following from Surati Aali 'Imraan searching any new verbs/nouns that have not yet been encountered. Please provide any additional explanation where you see necessary.


وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَلَـٰكِنْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَلَـٰكِنْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ – And they(m3+) did not wrong*
اللَّه – Allah
وَلَـٰكِنْ – but (Rather)
أَنفُسَهُمْ – their(m3+) selves (souls)
يَظْلِمُونَ – [are] they(m3+) wronging

* مَا is used here as a statement of negation

Hmmm....

According to VSO we see the casings are: Fixed, Dhammah ُ and Fatt'ha َ

So I am slightly confused as to why

وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ اللَّهُ

does not seem to follow that rule in terms of object. So I would assume اللَّهُ should in fact be اللَّهَ?

Any ideas? Or is it that I'm point blank looking at something so obvious that its laughable?

وَمَا - and did not
ظَلَمَهُمُ - (he) oppress them
اللَّهُ - Allah (subject)
وَلَـٰكِنْ - but
أَنفُسَهُمْ - their souls
يَظْلِمُونَ - are oppressing (sinnng)

Here, I think Nurjahan the verb is ظَلَمَ (he oppressed/transgressed) with an attached pronoun هُمْ (so 'they' are in fact the objects, and not Allah) so the translation would be: Allah did not oppress them but (rather) their souls are oppressing/sinning/transgressing'...

PS: I think your translation:'They did not wrong Allah' would have been written وَمَا ظَلمُوا اللهَ (I don't know if the ا from the verb has to be dropped though)...
